Today’s passage is a little more heavy. If you have a hard time understanding or need clarification, don’t hesitate to ask.
Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Pastor Ben’s Commentary:
-“Justified” here means that God sees us as right with Him and treats us that way based on faith.
-Faith in what? Jesus Christ. Jesus’ righteousness or right standing with God is given to us. That is justification. When we trust in Jesus as the Way we are made right with God, our faith in Him leads us into a right relationship with God.
Here are some questions you can answer about today’s passage to help you understand:

Paul also says that our justification leads to us being able to take “glory in tribulations” (tribulations mean difficult circumstances). Why did he say that tribulations would be good?

Application:
1. My salvation was made possible and given to me by God, not me. There is absolutely nothing I could do to earn it. It was earned for me by Jesus Christ.
2. Faith in Jesus doesn’t just lead to hope one day, but hope now. God has a purpose in everything that comes into our lives. He wants us to learn patience, experience, and hope- the kind of hope that makes us bold about how we live our lives for Him.
Faith is the right response to God’s love in sending Jesus!

I’m not gonna lie, todays passage kinda confused me! If i missed the point please tell me, because it would help a lot 🙂
1) Our justification gives us peace, faith, and hope.
2) Glory in tribulations (troubles) is when we have glory through the hard times or troubles. It says that tribulation produces perserverence, character, and hope! Paul said that tribulations would be good because God would be there for us through them! Because Jesus died for us, He payed our debt. He gave us salvation, not ourselves, like Pastor Ben said!
1. The three things Paul said was faith, grace, and to rejoice in the hope of God! If we’re justified with Chist that means we have faith in Him, we have grace where we stand working Christ, and we have the hope in God.
2. Tribulations are hard circumstances but in this context the tribulation is when it comes to being a follower of Christ. Being a follower of Christ isn’t always easy, but it’s so rewarding. I think Paul was saying that tribulations are good because it will not only test our faith in Him, but we can stand up to Christ. Tribulations are put in our lives to test our true faith in God! They aren’t always pleasent by any means, but sticking up for Christ and making sacrifices because we love Him is so worth hardship!

2). “Glory in tribulations” could mean that even though you’re going through a hard time, to glorify God and still give thanks. And through hard times we learn to have patience and hope. Is that right?! 🙂
1. Paul says that justification will give us 3 things, peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, access by faith into this grace, hope of the glory of God, this is amazing to know that I am no longer an enemy of God but I have peace with him. I have access to faith and I hope of glory.
2. Paul says that tribulation is good, because it will bring patience into our lives, and through the patience, experience and through the experience, hope. I know when I am in tribulations, or a bad situation usually the first thing I do is get mad at God for sticking me in the middle of this problem then I try to find my own way out. When clearly right here Paul says that tribulation is good for us it will ultimately produce hope and patience in our lives. SO next time you are in a tough spot and you just don’t understand why God is doing this too you, remember he is doing this for your own good and instead of complaining and trying to find a way around it look to see hwat you can learn from it! 🙂
