My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.  Psalm 112:6-8

Have you ever had your heart fixed on something?  Maybe it was a dream- making the team, meeting  someone special, having someone like you back.  Our hearts tend to fix themselves on something.  We desire things and we passionately pursue the things we desire.  It’s how God made us, and that can be a good thing, but it also can be very bad.

If we are going to have a new heart in the new year, we have got to fixed on God.  What does that mean?  Their ought to be a passion and a desire for God in our lives.  We ought to want to please Him, to know Him, and to love Him more than anything else.  Today’s passages talk about having our hearts fixed on God.  What does it say charactizes the the righteous man whose heart is fixed on God?

• Trusts God.
• It’s established.
• It’s not afraid even when difficult news comes.
