Today we’re going to continue to discuss this cycle that we see over and over in Judges with the last step in the cycle.
- Sin
- Punishment
- Repentance
- Deliverance
Deliverance
Isn’t our God so amazing? We don’t deserve his love and mercy. Yet he extends not only mercy, but grace to us in spite of how we treat him at times. In this book, God’s deliverance is seen multiple times through people (appropriately) called Judges. These people, sometimes men and sometimes women, were used by God, often through military strength, but also in other ways, to deliver God’s people once they had been overtaken by the enemy.
It’s important to point out that deliverance always follows after repentance. God will not always deliver us from difficult circumstances once we repent, but we certainly can’t expect Him to deliver if we refuse to repent.
Life Step: Think about it…
Even our eternal salvation cannot happen without true repentance. We turn from our sin and whatever else we are trusting in and choose to trust in God to deliver us.
“For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Isn’t that incredible news?
Take a moment today to either accept God’s deliverance or thank Him for it!
