Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
My wife made a turkey today…best thing ever! I love everything about the tradition of thanksgiving in my family. Football, food, family…It’s all good stuff.
We’ve all heard both sides of the thanksgiving argument. Some people see it just as a chance to eat, rest, hang out with family and throw a couple of “thank yous” out to people in their life. Yet others will go off on how thankless we are becoming as a society- to the point that it’s become cliche to even do so.
It’s good to be thankful all year long. A thankful heart really is a happy heart. We ought to be thankful to those around us for what they give us and who they are to us. That is right and good, and should happen.
During this thanksgiving day celebration though, don’t forget to whom we owe the most thanks. God has given us everything we have. He created us, loves us, and has redeemed us and provided a way to spend eternity with Him.
So on this thanksgiving day- let’s not forget to thank the Source of everything we have. God has been so good to you. He loves you. Don’t forget to thank Him for who He is and what He has done!
So once in every year we throng
Upon a day apart,
To praise the Lord with feast and song
In thankfulness of heart.
