Devotion for April 19, 2012
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:2, 3)
Here are some cool questions to help you think about this passage:
Do you think that the tree by the river is a good comparison for someone who knows and loves the Bible? How do they compare?
What do you think it means to “bring forth his fruit in his season”?
What do you think it means that “his leaf also shall not wither”?
How can you apply these verses to your life?
I do and i dont think that the tree by the river is a good comparison for someone who knows and loves the Bible because I do think it’s good because they could do what the bible tells them and they could make the right decsion without even thinking about it and I don’t think that the tree thing by the river is like a bad thing because they could know everything about the bible but not even do anything with it they could do what they want and just ignore what Jesus tells them. To bring forth his fruit in his season means to bring on the word of God… I think and to not wither means that we would not be like the bad leaves that fall from the tree we will not go away not go to hell I think that’s what it kinda means.
i think it is a good comparison because trees need water to survive.just like we need God to survive.with out water, the tree would die.without God, we would go to hell and be lost forever.to bring forth fruit in his season i think means that if a tree has water then it will bring fruit and vice versa.if we don’t have God,we won’t bring fruit, have a relationship (i think) I think that to not wither means that we need not to wear out without God like trees do w/out water.
I think it’s a cool comparison! A tree planted by a river would get pretty much all the nutrients it needs, so it would be a big and strong. Delighting in Gods word will definitely make us stronger! & if we love God and do what His word says, we’ll prosper!
