(39) And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

Explanation:

Not everyone in the multitude was a disciple. The Pharisees went to Jesus and demanded that he stop the people from worshipping him as Messiah. In essence they were saying, we know your not God, and you should recognize that you are not God either. You should not accept worship from these people. You are not king. You are not messiah. You should not be worshipped.

Application:

There are many who do not recognize Jesus as King, Messiah, or Lord. Yet, there opinion does not make it so.
