Jesus Christ never changes. Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8

Explanation

While speaking about considering our own lifestyle (v.5-6), and looking at the example of our Bible saturated leaders (v.7), we are reminded in this verse of the unchanging, impeccable character of Jesus Christ. He is immutable. He doesn’t change. He is the same. Why?

Being perfect means by definition being unchanging. There is no deficiency in his character, person, or performance.

He existed before there was time.

He became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.

He will sit on David’s throne, ruling and reigning forever.

Application

When human examples fail us we must remember that Jesus never fails. He is the ultimate example and worthy of every worship and praise that we can give to him. He will never change, and in a world in need of changing that is a very good thing.

Response

Heavenly father, I know that you desire to conform me to the unchanging image of your Son. I know you will ultimately do that in heaven. I present myself to you today to do that on earth. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
