Experiencing Daily Fellowship with Christ

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9)

Explain:

God called us “unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” This fellowship – an “in common reality” – is something we can experience right now. Because of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, we can have a relationship with Him now. This present fellowship with Christ assures us of a day of full and final salvation. As Jesus said to the church at Laodicea: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).

Apply:

It is possible to believe in Christ and be saved, yet neglect our fellowship with Him. As saved people, we are called “unto the fellowship” of “Jesus Christ our Lord.” We can dine with Jesus, feast on His Word, and lay our needs before Him in prayer. There is comfort and joy in fellowship with the Son of God. This faithful fellowship now helps us know that He will be faithful to save us in that day.

Respond:

  • In what ways might you be neglecting your fellowship with Christ?
  • What would it look like practically to “dine with Jesus” in your daily routine?
  • How does the assurance of present fellowship with Christ encourage you about your future salvation?
