Accountable to God: Day 5

8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Romans 14:8-12

Today we see that the parable in yesterday’s text isn’t just a story.  It reflects a future reality.  We will stand before God.  One day we will answer to God for what we do with what he has given to us.  If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, you can be glad that you will not answer for the sin that Christ has paid for.  Yet, you will answer for your works whether they were useful for the kingdom of God, or useful only for yourself.

Application:
It may seem like a long way off, but the day of accountability is going to come.  Will you be ready?

If I were to stand before the judgement seat of Christ today, i am certain that I would be answering for works that I did that were not useful to God but just to myself. I kind of feel bad for the person standing behind me, could be a long wait lol. But seriously, I think we can all admit that we have done good works that honored God, and works that didn’t. It is something to really keep in mind on a daily basis though. If we kept the above scripture in mind every day, maybe it would help us to do all things for Christ, and maybe help us to take another look when we are about to just honor ourselves. We all know when we are doing one or the other. If we don’t keep it at the forefront of our minds daily, we will tend to follow our human nature and do what pleases our flesh. One way or another, every one, believer or not, will stand before God.

We are all going to stand before God one day and I will be ready at this very point I’m ready I no he will be pleased because I’m starting to invite people to church and praying that the people will come and God has given us resources that can help me like the church and Godly friends but I will be ready.

That’s a good question! I’m not sure if I know the answer to it though. There has been so many opportunities I’ve had to do something useful for the Kingdom of God, but I let those opportunities pass by without doing anything.
It’s crazy to think that someday we will be judged for everything we did here on earth, good and bad. And I really hope, as does everyone I’m sure, that I’ve done more good than bad. Sometimes it’s just so easy to only please ourselves and not think about others, including God. But that’s not what God told us to do. “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord;” we were put on this earth to glorify God, whether we do that or not is our choice. But there will be a day when we stand before God, ready or not. This really puts things into perspective for me that I’m not being as useful as I could be to the kingdom of God!

  5. i don’t know if i would be ready.i haven’t really confessed and asked for forgivness lately.i like these verses though.its so cool that it tells us that we will stand before God and confess everything.also that it says that we are his.its really important because some people think they aren’t his and the would be seperated forever.when we tell others about him,we should show him or her those verses too.i think it would be helpful.sorry i wasn’t on guys.i was sick.but now im better.hope you guys had a great day and im super excited about the 4-day weekend baby! oh yea!! 🙂 love you guys! 🙂 <3333333

I’m so thaknful for the gift of salvation, and honestly for the judgment that I will stand before one day. I used to be so scared thinking about standing before God and having Him judge my life, but when you think about it, knowing that we’re going to be judged is truly a gift. We have the knowledge that we are going to stand before God one day, and have the ability to live our lives knowing this. It’s not a surprise, it’s written. I think that I’ve been getting to the place where I think God would be happy with how I’ve been serving Him, and using my time here on earth, but at the same time, I have a lot to work on. I want God to be proud of me one day, not ashamed. I want to be like the person who recieved 5 talents and use them as God told me to, not like the one who recieved only one and hid it.
