1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.
Psalms 19:1-4a
Explanation
In Psalm 19, David starts out this incredible song with an incredible truth. God has revealed Himself. He is making Himself known to all mankind.
How is He doing it? He’s doing it through the created world!
On Christmas Day, 2021, Nasa launched the James Webb Deep Space Telescope. It’s the most powerful space telescope ever used. Not much longer they sent back this image.

The dots of light that you see in this picture are not individual stars. They are galaxies- millions and billions of stars a piece. If you held up a grain of sand on the end of your finger and held it up to the night sky, the part of the sky blocked by the grain of sand in your view is how much of the field of view of the night sky is shown in this picture.
If that makes you feel small, and makes our God seem big to you, know that though immense, this universe is still finite. Our God is infinite. His glory goes beyond description. His size goes beyond comprehension. And yet, even in His immensity, He is declaring Himself to us through His creation.
Application:
When you go outside and see the stars and the created world you realize, I didn’t make this. Somebody did make this! This world was designed! A painting demands a painter. An automobile demands an engineer. In fact, I was engineered. I was created. The psalmist says that the Creator is communicating to us through His creation. His glory can clearly be seen in the things that He has made, and we are without excuse.
Response:
God thank you for all that you have made, and thank you for making yourself known to us through the stars! Thank you for being knowable today! Amen
