Two things are striking me today about our upcoming services. Here are my thoughts…
Peace
If there is anything lacking in many of our hearts and minds these days it is peace. It is easy to be worried all the time. It’s very easy to be frustrated, in turmoil, sad, lonely, and discouraged. <—Didn’t that last sentence just get you down a little bit? Me too.
Here is the good news. Jesus has given us peace! Peace with God! It isn’t an artificial, doesn’t-really-work kind of peace. Listen to what he said in John 14:27.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
-Jesus Christ
The peace that God gives doesn’t mean He has promised incredible, beautiful, easy circumstances. He hasn’t. He has just promised to guard our hearts and minds in the middle of those circumstances.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
September 11th
One of those difficult circumstances that our country went through shows a lack of peace in the world. Today we remember what happened 10 years ago when Islamic terrorists attacked our country, when brave policeman, firefighters, and other first responders so bravely gave of themselves, and when our country was united (if but for a short time) around things like patriotism, the importance of prayer, and the need for God to give us peace.

As you take time to remember today, thank God that we can have peace in very difficult circumstances.
I don’t really remember 9/11 because I wasn’t even born or I don’t know if I was even born…but this was a tragedy for alot of people and alot of loves obesity lost someone very improtant to there lives, but as we loopback we know that they will all ways be in our hearts and sprit and that we are in peace…I want to thank god for all he has dobrle for the world and other stuff and that mymother wasn’t there or me when it happened, but god wants us to know that our loved ones are still with us and will always be with us and that will never change 🙂
Sorry typo loved ones*
Sorry another typo look back*
Of course u were born! In 1997! Lol! 🙂
Ohh yea!! Hehe silly me okay I was born haha! 🙂
Today we remember the tragedy called 9|11. 9|11 has been a piece of our history for now 10 years. This disaster has made many people lose their homes. Thousands of innocent people died. And the two twin towers have collapsed. Today the memorial house is completed and had the two tridents from the original twin towers tht is the only piece we have left. There is also the Ladder 3 fire truck, which has been burned in half. And 11 of the 12 fire fighters tht was in tht truck died tht day. There is also metal cars tht was found in the died rubbal, there was the wall tht held the twin towers up. This is a piece of history tht will last forever. And God has gotten us through on of the toughest times because we believed in him. Im so glad I am a part of his glorious family! 🙂
WHOOHOO!!! good jog tristian!! 🙂
Sorry meant good job!! Ughh!!! Another typo what’s wrong with me
Y thank u and it’s spelled job! Lol!
Peace is something that people can take in several ways. Or to me at least I can see how it is reprented in a few ways. There are people out there who are against war and only want peace in this world. No fighting, just peace among nations. That would be kinda nice huh? To have peace among all nations! Sadly that’s not the case and it won’t ever be as long as we’re here on earth. As I think of this I think of how a lot of Americans now have hatred for almost all Muslim/ Islamic people.. I think that’s really sad and really wrong. Not ALL of the Muslims or Islamic people had a part to do with 9/11. So why should we even have a reason to hate them all? We don’t. That’s like with slavery. All african Americans can hate all of us that are white because back in then we had slavery or back in the 60’s we had segregation. But none of us today had anything to do with slavery and not all of us were for segregation so why should they hate us? They shouldn’t. We need peace in this world and we need to show peace to others using God’s principles.
I was in 2nd grade when 9/11 happened. I was pretty little but I remember where I was and what happened. It was very tragic and is still tragic 10 years later. I’m so thankfull to be here today remembering those who died, those who lost loved ones and those who died and continue to die and serve our country! God is so gracious and blesses us tremendously. Someone put on facebook today, “God bless America, but how about we bless God!” that is so true and really made me think about how blessed we really are and how we need to really appreciate and thank God for all he has done for us. I thank God that He’s given me peace through difficult circumstances!
I’m so thankful that peace is so easy to have, all we have to do is ask God for it, and accept it. Pastor Bales made a great comment today, saying peace isnt just having our problems solved, but having a good outlook on the situation we’re in. 10 years ago, our country fell apart because of the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and the pentagon. But what was so cool was that our country came together, and helped eachother through the terrible time. I was 5 years old in my kindergarten class watching Barney. Barney went bye bye, and i didnt know why. I remember seeing fire on the tv, and i looked at my teacher with her hand over her mouth, completely shocked. I watched, not knowing what was going on. Our school went on a complete lockdown, and i just remember chaos, and my teacher making a lot of phone calls. At that time for our nation, peace seemed very far away. Especially to the people who lost loved ones. The world doesnt give us peace, and im so glad it doesnt. God gives us peace to get through everything! He doesnt promise everything to be good, but He promises to guard our hearts as P.Ben said. God doesn’t put bad things in our lives, like what we talked about in small groups, but He puts the good in our lives, like having peace in hard times. I’m so grateful to live in a God blessed country, and that even through the trials of our lives, we can do it together!!
I read this just don’t know what to say
