  1. James 1:21
“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

WOW!!! i’ve learned so much thru James,i’d hv 2 say this is my favorite verse.it reminds me God will save us from sin! another verse that kinda goes along w/ this is Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

both these verses say that God will save us from sin.isn’t it awesome he saved us?!?! just knowing he saved me makes me sooo happy cause i know im saved! we also need the engrafted word too.it says in the verse that it will save our souls.we need this word cause we can’t really go w/out it.see some of u soon!!!!!! 🙂 <33333333

It’s so hard to pick just one verse, but I think I’ve learned the most from James 1:19-20 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” these two verses taught me a lot! Sometimes I speak with thinking and end up saying something I regret. But James is saying to be slow to speak and slow to wrath. I learned from these verses that I need to listen carefully then think about what I’m going to say before just blurting out an answer. Anger never solved anything, and that is so true! Sometimes in the long run it’s easier just to keep your mouth closed instead of saying something hurtful. I’ve definitely said my share of hurtful things, but these verses helped me so much!
I said I couldn’t pick just one.. Another verse that really helped me is James 4:7-8 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” One of the reasons I love James is because he’s so practical! Kinda nerdy, but what comes to mind when I read these verse is “For every action there is a reaction:” If we resist the devil, he’ll flee from us. But if we draw close to God, He’ll draw close to us. It’s really simple (probably why I like it so much ;)).
It’s so cool to see how much we have grown together and individually studying James! I know I’ve learned so much, it’s crazy!!
I’m really excited for Family Day! I get to spend it with my immediate family and church family! Lol. See you guys tomorrow! 🙂

  3. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
    James 2:14, 17, 18, 21
In these verses we talked about how we can say we have faith, but our actions don’t necessarily show it. For example, I can say I trust God with my life but when it comes to putting my life in His hands I keep it in mine. I learned how important it truly is to actually back up our faith with works. If God tells me to go live in Japan and be a missionary. Even though I’d be terrified of the dangers there, and getting caught, I’d go, because not only did God lay it upon my heart to do so, but because I honestly trust Him with my life. He knows what comes of the next coming days I don’t. I was reminded how important this really is and I’ve really been applying it to my life, and let me tell you, I see a change!
I’ve learned so much throughout this book of the bible and it’s helped me keep my fire for God and to rekindle each day my love for Him. I’m so glad we did this, and excited to continue studying the bible everyday! 🙂
