Voices: Preaching

Devotion for Thursday, December 8

1 Corinthians 2
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

It is good to hear good biblical preaching because if the preacher doesn’t know what he’s talking about then he’s not doing his job and us kids/teens won’t learn anything. It is important to hear good biblical preaching. We should preach the word of Jesus Christ to everyone, tell people what great miracles he did and how he cared about us and died on the cross for us to pay our sins. We should preach the word of jesus christ just like his disciples did, because we want the whole world to know about him and worship him and do as he says and also go to heaven. Preaching should have a big role in our life’s, we should be the preachers and tell everyone about Jesus Christ that he died and rose again on Easter and thats why we celebrate it, we’re celebrating Jesus rise for the dead. We should be the preachers to other people who don’t know about him and his miracles.

    P.S. I don’t think I did a good job! 😦

I believe tht it is good to hear biblical preaching. Biblical preaching is all about the bible. Does preaching have an impact o my life? Uhhh… Thts a hard one!!! Jk OFCOURSE IT DOES!!!! the first year I went to camp Sean Sears spoke. He really made and impact by the hole week talking about putting god first. And if u really love him to be like his son on the scafle and just jump knowing tht god will catch u!!! And then the next year at ignite. Basically everyone from h2o went. But still… He again made another impact on my life! He talked about how If the bible was real or not? Like how can we know. And of course we can know because he sent his son to die on the cross for u sin and mine. It’s true because it says it right in the bible!! John 3:16! πŸ™‚ but pastor ben and pastor bales have made an impact and pretty much anyone who speaks I grab ahold of it and take all he info in and apply it to my life! πŸ™‚ just like…. Know-ξ€’ Grow- Serve- and Go-ξ„• it’s a good reminder of how to apply things to ur life.

Great Devo today and love u guys and c u saturday if ur coming to help out but if not Sunday! πŸ™‚ bye!! πŸ™‚

  4. preaching is pretty important.i love to listen to it.i always get something out of it.like tristian said pastor ben and pastor bales have made a HUGE impact on my life! can you tell?! πŸ™‚ hehe i like the Know Grow Serve Go thing.that definetely goes along with this.we need 2 know his word,we need to grow in his word.we need to serve him with his word.and we need to go and tell others about him.telling others about Jesus makes me think of 2 things.1) telling others is like spreading a disease.you tell some people, they tell more people, and they tell more people and pretty soon,so many people know Jesus!! 2) we need to be “salty christans” say you have ham and its salty.salt can most of the time make some things taste a little better.then you get thirsty.you drink milk and when you think about it,spreading the salt is like spreading his word!! after telling them, you make them thirsty for Jesus!! sorry i wasn’t on for a few days 😦 been busy i might see u guys on saturday.i have to practice for the christmas cantata πŸ™‚

I think this is very important because we often wonder what does Gos have for me? This is a great way to try and hear from God. Hearing the bible from someone else can also give you a new perspective and you can learn from that. It definitely had an impact on me and one verse that i think goes with this is “be ye not hearers of the word but doers” because it’s not enough to just sit through services and hear them you have to apply them.

This is talking a little bit about Paul’s past life. He says he wasnt always the man he is today. The words that used to come out of his mouth…they weren’t of God. Then he goes on to say that he needs to share his gift of salvation with them because they are in the same place that he was! He tells them that Jesus totally turned his life around! Also, the ones who DO have Jesus, he tells them that they need to tell people about it “hide it under a bush..oh NO! im gonna let it shine.”
Tell everyone what Jesus has done for you, cause somewhere out there someone needs to hear it. That’s how all of you got your salvation (from hearing from others) so now its YOUR turn to tell. Preach the gospel to every nation. Everyone needs to hear it. Preach it! πŸ˜‰

  7. Paul was teaching the Corinthians that no man knows everything but God, but the spirit. That we learn these things through preaching and his word. We don’t just automatically know them. Preaching played a huge part in Paul’s church because he was trying to get the Corinthians to believe that they need God. Man can’t do it alone, and with preaching of God’s word, they can understand that. They can learn more about God through the spirit taught in preaching and through His word.
Preaching is so important! I love going to services and hearing what pastor, Pastor Ben, Pastor Corey, or even missionaries when they come have to say. Everytime we hear a sermon, they are trying to get through a message or a point throughout their preaching. & more then 99% of the time it’s important. God wants us to learn about him and we can do that by hearing what is said. Preaching has a huge impact over my life. I teach a lot in different areas over the church and I would consider teaching a type of preaching because when we teach we’re getting a message across. It’s so important to tell others about God and the gospel, and we need to bring it to our friends. We need to preach the gospel to them. You hear the saying, “don’t you dare preach at me!” we don’t want to come across as holier then thou, but we do want to tell others about what God is all about and what he has done!
