If we want to have a new heart in the new year we must recognize what God wants our hearts to be like. Today we learn that God wants our hearts to be pure. What’s important to know is that we can’t completely do that on our own. God has to clean our hearts, but we’ve got to do our part.
What are some ways we can keep our hearts pure before God?

I believe to keep our hearts pure for god tht we need to follow in his footsteps. We need to read the bible. We need to have communication with him!!! How could u know someone without talking to them?!? Well not very well I guess. So prayer. We need to pray to god. To thank him for everything. To just talk to him! Those things r important!! And another way.. Is to talk to other people about god! And how he saved u!! These things r key!!! 🙂 bye love I guys and guess what????

We need to seek God and read and memorize His Word so that it is in our hearts. When we sin we need to recognize it and ask for forgiveness. Imagine if everyone could see what your heart really said about you on a daily basis——scary. God looks at the heart and we should be concerned with what He thinks of us and our real feelings. WWJD? is a good thing to ask yourself in different situations. When we know what God’s Word says we should be able to discern if our hearts are pure or not. We who are saved have the Holy Spirit—–so listen.

Whenever you have a problem that you can’t stop, you should go to god first! I mean. He DOES know everything!! Repent, and ask god to help you! But of course you have to try also to try and not do that sin again, and continue following in god’s footsteps, like tristian said 😉 I think god is the best rolemodel we could possibly have!(: ❤

Prayer and reading God’s word is such a good start when it comes to having a pure heart. We need to be single minded when it comes to having a pure heart, because it takes full devotion to God. When we’re on fire for God and just want nothing but His presence, it’s easy to have a pure heart. But if we’re trying to get to the point where we want to be on fire for God again, then we need to be putting things in our lives that will bring us closer to Him. God wants nothing more then for Him to be number 1 in our lives. Praying, being inconstant communication with Him, will not only help us to make wiser decisions, but will bring us closer to Him. Reading God’s word and getting His word into our hearts by memorizing it, is amazing because it’s first hand.God speaks to us, not by whispering in our ears, or writing in the clouds, but through His word and prayer.
I think we can keep our hearts pure by reading the bible, being around other people that you know would help you stay in touch with God, by prayer and basically what Tristian and Mafalda said, God should be our role modle (:
reading the bible would be my #1 answer because god spoke what was in the bible so everything he said was true.i also like God being our role model since he’s perfect.we need to follow his footsteps.a good question is…… W.W.J.D. he has a pure heart and knows what to do in situations.the overall point is,GOD should be our role model 🙂

I love these verses! A great way I think to keep our hearts pure is to keep a short sin acount. Sometimes I get busy and I forget to ask for Gods forgiveness for my sins (which is usually alot :/) then my sins build up and pretty soon I have this huge list of things I need forgiveness for, which does not help a pure heart. When I do something wrong, I need to immediately ask for forgiveness! Having a pure heart can be tough sometimes, especially for me! Because I’m not always right with God, and I don’t always do what He wants me to. But I think a new heart is just what I need to start out the new year! 🙂
I can completely relate to this, actually I was just telling Melanie today when I got home from church, I went on youtube and instead of searching for what my friend’s usually search for ” LIl Wayne, Tupac, Mac Miller” all songs with bad ideas in them, i decided to search for ” Toby Mac and Mercy Me” (two of my favorite christian artists). So that is one way, by going against what some of our worldly friends think and showing them how a true christian acts. another way we could make our hearts pure with God is to read the Bible, worship, and pray to him. If he wants one thing more than anything it is a relationship with us which is so amazing! A pure, clean heart is exactly what I need to start 2012! & Happy Birthday to Mafalda!!! Love you girly!

In order to keep our heart pure before God we have to be true to ourselves! We must wake up each day and die to our flesh so that we can walk in the spirit. We must also repent of all our sins so that we can truly be free from any heaviness we may bare… Meditating on the word is a must! Feeding our soul with the word of God will definitely keep our hearts pure! <
