Accountable to God: Day 17

January 31, 2012
Today’s Text:  Read Acts 20:28, 1 Corinthians 6:20, Matthew 20:28
Today’s Key Thought: God has purchased every believer out of slavery to sin.

Not only has God created you on purpose, but God has saved you on purpose.  God chose in His plan to send His Son to die on the cross for your sins.  The Bible says in Acts 20:28 that we were purchased by the blood of His Son. Stop and think about that for a moment.  Jesus bled and died so that you can be redeemed or bought back.  He made you, and if you have put your faith and trust in Him for your salvation then He redeemed you as well.  This means that you are twice His.  Once by creation, and once through salvation.    Think about these song lyrics:

“You spread out the skies over empty space,
said “Let there be light”
Into a dark and formless world Your light was born.
You spread out Your arms over empty  hearts
said “Let there be light”
Into a dark and hopeless world Your Son was born.
You made the world and saw that it was good.
You sent Your only Son for you are good.
What a wonderful Maker!
What a wonderful Savior!…”

Application:
We are now twice owned by God.  He made us.  He redeemed us.  He allows us to enjoy all of His Creation.  He allows us to enjoy Him.  Today, think about what a right response to this should be!

I posted yesterday’s devotion today. sorry a day late on that.

That is really cool stuff. I am twice His. Thank God for that. I don’t know how any one gets through life without knowing they have a home in heaven. I am always in awe when i think about what God did for me when He sent His only Son to die for my sins. Two of my favorite verses of scripture come to mind right now. Matthew 7:13-14. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. When I think about the fact that most people will be on the road to destruction, but yet some how I am on the narrow road which leads to life is amazing to me. I am so grateful that God loved me enough to allow His Holy Spirit to touch my heart and help me to realize that I need salvation. I should enjoy His creation according to His plan for me.

That’s so awesome of God to let us in joy his creation I am so happy that God made a way to ask for forgiveness and let us be his followers I just try to thank God every time I pray but God let us be his follower for a reason he wants us to share what God has shared with us and I think we need to thank him for the oppertunity that we have to share God’s word this past summer I got to lead a kid to Christ and it was just the greatest feeling ever I just thank God for that.

When I think about what God did for me, and how He sent His son Jesus, to die for me, it blows my mind every single time. It’s a neat concept to think about the fact that we are twice owned by God. Most of the time when we think about God’s ownership of us, we just think about the creation side- but, the reality is, that He owns us through salvation, and that is the coolest thing ever! I think the right response to this reality should be praise. Jesus didn’t have to save us, but He chose to, because He loved us. Right before Jesus was about to be crucified, He prayed to God basically praying for another way, but He knew what had to be done, and because He loved His heavenly father, He obeyed Him, and even though God loved His only begotten son, He loved the world! We owe Christ praise for what He’s done. We ought to thank Him for not only caring enough about us, to create us, but to own us through salvation.

  5. when ever I hear about him dying on the cross for our sins and that he has redeemed us it just amazes me.its pretty cool that God owned us twice.and I thank God for that.its just amazing.he saved us,redeemed us twice, forgives me of my sins, died for all of our sins, the list could just go on and on about what he did for us.I just wanna say THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
