I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end. Psalm 119:112
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Romans 6:15
When I was a kid my parents defined obedience for me what seemed like 5 times a day, and here is how they defined it. “Obedience is doing what you’re told, when you’re told, with a right heart attitude.” God has given us specific instructions in black and white about what His will is for us. He wrote it in His Word. Of course, we don’t have to obey those who are not in authority over us. But no one can accurately say that God isn’t their authority. He is in charge. He is the ultimate and final authority, and as He has given us the Bible, it is our ultimate and final authority as well. What God says, we ought to do.
The question for us today is this- Are we being obedient to what God has told us to do!
If we’re not being, we should be, we should be obedient to what god tells us to do when he tells us to do it we should not hesitate and just do it because we know god will be there with us threw it all and he will always be there to catch us when we fall. If we followe gods commands then we will have a good life and god also wants what’s best for us as well.
Give me a heads up of if I did something wrong because if feels like I’m missing something or I did it wrong.
mafalda, you did sososososo great!!! 🙂 btw,do you like jewelery?? (braceclets)
Boy, this week has been a reality check for me. I am not always obedient to God for sure. I think it is easy to pick and choose where we want to be obedient. I really need to get my act together in 2012. I am not saying its all bad don’t get me wrong, but I definitely need to be more obedient. I think we could all admit that. Once again, I am grateful for God’s Word that convicts the heart. I plan on being more consistent in my prayer life and my devotionals in 2012.
I’d just like to say that the girl students and Counselors at H2O are the bomb! You guys are being so consistent. Time to kick these guys in gear.
There has been situations in my life where I knew what God wanted me to do, but did the exact opposite. Everytime I strayed from His direction, it led me in the exact direction you’d expect. Dead end. God gives us directions because He ultimately knows best. He of all people has the best judgment, and when we know He’s leading us somewhere we ought to be obedient to it. I can say from experience that failing to obey what God has told me to do, doesn’t get me anywhere. God has a plan for each and every one of us. It’s like someone coming up to you saying if you give them your palm they’ll tell you your future. They don’t know the future, but God sure does, and listening to His direction is the best bet because He designed our futures!
im not always obedient to God.i try my hardest and when i don’t i leads me into other things.bad things.obeying God may be easy for you for others its not.its the right thing to do though.God’s way can lead to some great outcomes.this weeks devos are really speaking to me.im gonna try to apply these and hopefully ill have a newer heart in 2012.hope you guys hv a fabulous day!! 🙂 love yoo guys!!! 🙂 <3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333
Like Melanie, there’s been tons of times in my life when I knew what God wanted me to do but I chose not to listen to Him. And just like when I disobey my parents, when I disobey God there is consequences! There will be times when I’m not sure about what to do, but instead of praying and asking God what HE thinks I should do I would just make the decision myself, which is just as bad as purposely disobeying Him! I’ve been getting better at praying and asking God what He wants before I make my decisions, and it’s really been paying off! Knowing that what I’m doing is what God wants is so satisfying, and there’s not as much stress! It’s great 🙂
